Test Day has, historically been a sometimes interesting, sometimes frustrating, but not very often dramatic occasion, the first time seeing all of the cars and usually most of the drivers on track gets the blood pumping and there’s an opportunity to assess the general level of form, countered by the knowledge that the best of the best will seldom show their very best to their opposition.Ģ008 was one of those frustrating ones. Real rivalry, played out with real spirit. One of the regular annual tableaus that played out in the more than decade-long rivalry between Corvette and Aston Martin was the inevitability that as the teams brought their cars to the grid a race would break out – but not V8 to V12, or even later V8 to V8 – but with muscle power the two crews went head-to-head to push their car further and faster. The US-owned, Italian based and Team Joest-supported Hypercar squad will start their third Le Mans in 2023 after what can only be described as one of the greatest privateer achievements in the history of the race in 2022 when the pair of SCG007s finished the race fourth, and an astonishing third overall! The #709 having run faultlessly throughout The Le Mans fan base loves an underdog, and there has seldom been one more proud of telling them just what an underdog they were than Glickenhaus Racing! A distraught Keating would later reveal that the rubber bladder inside the tank, which had been constructed to the regulatory size, had apparently expanded during the race by 0.4 litres! The car was disqualified for having a fuel tank 0.1 litres larger than the mandated 96-litre maximum.
That was bad enough but a further penalty was significantly worse. The FIA imposed a penalty of 55.2 seconds on the team for consistently short fuel stops, the minimum time dictated to be 45 seconds – the Ford was taking 44.4 seconds. But honestly, the Thrive group has helped me become the best person I can be.For 10 days in the build-up to the 2023 running of the Le Mans 24 Hours, DSC is reflecting on some of the best, worst and wacky moments from its time covering the event since the turn of the century. Then of course the last two are of the Thrive group. I had the best time getting to play high school football along side my little brother. The second is a picture of me and my little brother on game day my senior year. First one is of me and my siblings ready to go to school when we were extremely young. These are just four of my favorite photographed memories. Good memories, bad memories, and indifferent memories make up the past in our lives.īut here is the thing to remember, no matter how many bad or indifferent memories that one has had, it is the precious little moments captured in those good memories that make life so absolutely wonderful. And yet, all we get out of it is memories. Time really is a fickle thing that just seems to pass us by. As we grow up and get older, we all suddenly realize that time is but a vapor in the wind.
Then as we get older and get closer to moving out on our own or have moved out on our own, then we want nothing else but for time to slow down so that we can spend just a few more moments with the ones we cherish the most. Then as we grow into teenagers, all we can do is look toward the future, desperate to get out of our current situations. That’s probably one reason why children are so precious. It is actually somewhat ironic how as little kids we are all about living in the moment. I never fully understood what it meant until I myself became an adult. I used to hear that saying from adults all the time while growing up. Precious little moments are what make life so great.
